Originally built in 1547 the House remained home to the Edgcumbe family until 1971 when the stewardship was passed to Cornwall and Plymouth City Council as a Country Park.

Today Mount Edgcumbe comprises 865 acres of parkland with over 10 miles of coastline.  The Grade I listed landscape contains listed buildings, ancient monuments, 4 sites of Special Scientific Interest, over 180 different species of tree and plays host to the direct descendants of the fallow deer that Sir Piers Edgcumbe introduced in 1515.

With adventure play zones, shops, café’s and restaurants it is the destination of choice for visitors to Cornwall and Plymouth alike.

You can enjoy disk golf, Segway adventure in the great outdoors; explore creativity at the blacksmiths and weaving workshop with retail therapy all available in the Barrow Centre or visit the family collection, paintings, tapestries, furniture, sculptures, exhibitions and even dressing up in the costume room at the House.
