The History of Cursus Barrow

The Cursus Barrows’ significance lies in its connection to one of Britain’s oldest known ceremonial landscapes. Dating back to the Neolithic period, over 3,500 years ago, these burial mounds served as resting places for some of our earliest ancestors.

The site itself comprises a series of barrows, along with the extensive Cursus earthwork, believed to have been used for ceremonial and religious purposes. Unearthing these mysteries provides valuable insights into the spiritual lives of the people who constructed these monuments long before recorded history.
